That was my exact line of thinking when I went to the old site. I'm no Jim Murray, so I have no idea what went wrong on the tech side of things. Nonetheless, this seems like a more user-friendly blog, with some better features for you commentators. Sadly, the Get Back Guy and Charles Haley's Penis will probably be lost in the abyss of what is the world wide web.
National Signing Day
Christmas in February has come and gone, and Michigan finished solidly, landing Quinton Washington, Jeron Stokes, Denard Robinson, and Big Shirtless Adrian Witty. Of those, Washington is the biggest land, IMO, as he is a powerhouse of an interior lineman that has a great nasty streak. Robinson could end up being the QB out of this class. His film shows excellent speed and quickness with a better-than-you-think throwing arm.
The rest of Michigan's class breaks down like this:
Headliner(s):
Big Will Campbell and Justin Turner are the clear headliners in this class. Both are ranked in the top 35 on nearly every site, except for ESPN which for some reason does not rank Campbell. Turner and Campbell both proved that they are elite players at the U.S. Army All American Bowl. Turner had opted to play cornerback, and shut down nearly everyone he went up against in practice. At 6'2", he brings great size to that position. Big Will has already enrolled, and if he can get into good enough shape he should see significant snaps in the fall. With a thin depth chart in front of him that features a Canadian and a poker player's cousin, Big Will needs to be a significant contributor right now.
Sleeper(s):
I have two sleepers in this class. The first is Thomas Gordon, hailing from Detroit Cass Tech. Playing on the same team as Will Campbell and fellow Michigan RB commit Teric Jones, Gordon played quarterback and safety, the latter for only his senior year. Safety is the position that Gordon will suit up at for the Wolverines, and I can see him being the quarterback of the secondary in a couple of years. It is also worth noting that he garnered the greatest nickname I've heard in a while from Rich Rodriguez at the Michigan Summer Camp. Thomas "Prison Abs" Gordon. Along with Gordon, Denard Robinson (aka the other QB recruit) signed with Michigan on NLOI day, and may have the most upside in the Spread n' Shred system. Here is his highlight film.
Guy Who Will Be The Star At The End:
Taylor Lewan, OT from Chaperral HS in Arizona (same HS as DE commit Craig Roh), has only played offensive tackle for one year. At 6'7 and 265 lbs, he has plenty of frame to grow into. With a little help from Mike Barwis, I think Lewan has the potential to be the next Jake Long
Overall, Michigan finished 13th according to Scout.com, and 7th according to Rivals.com.
Around the Big Ten, Ohio State finished very strong with the #1 class according to Scout.com. DE Melvin Fellows is a flat out stud, and I really like Jake Mewhort from Toledo St. Johns. WR Duron Carter, former NFLer Cris' son, comes in with some hype and figures to be a key target for Terrelle Pryor in the years to come. Penn State missed out on Jelani Jenkins, the big LB from Maryland, otherwise they would have finished stronger. Some tried to make the claim that Michigan State had the better class than Michigan, but that is total rubbish. LB Chris Norman is the headliner in their class, IMO, and I would have loved to see him in the Maize and Blue.
Around the World of Sports
- Lebron fell short of Kobe's 61 mark at MSG, only finishing with 52. This once again proves my point that Kobe is the best player in the league and deserves to win another MVP.
- Barry Bonds has pleaded not guilty to perjury. After all the evidence that has come out in the last week, I think it is time for Barry to admit what we have all known all along. Gotta hand it to his former trainer Greg Anderson, he is loyal if he is anything.
- Michigan is looking good against Penn State at home. Jamelle Cornley has just gone out with an injury, and that should help significantly with the rest of the game. Cornley is a straight up beast. If he was fat, he could be the next coming of Charles Barkley. Unfortunately, he is as solid as a rock and if basketball does not work out he could always go Antonio Gates.
He's Large.
That's all for tonight, tell everyone about the new address and lets hope for no more bad luck. As always, NRTTS.
